Julie London

JulieJulie London (nee Peck) was an American actor and singer who toured for more than 40 years. A torch-singer renowned for her sultry, languid contralto singing, London recorded over thirty albums of pop and jazz standards between 1955 between 1955 and 1969. Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame was her rendition of "Cry Me a River" the song that she first performed in her debut album. London was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for her character as Dixie McCall, a nurse on the television show Emergency! London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. Her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's 35-year acting career started in the film industry in 1944 which included roles for female leads in several westerns. She starred along with Rock Hudson in The Fat Man (1951) along with Robert Taylor and John Cassavetes in Saddle the Wind (1958), together with Gary Cooper in Man of the West (1958) and together with Robert Mitchum in The Wonderful Country (1959). In the middle of the 1950s, she signed a recording agreement with Liberty Records. This was the beginning of her professional career. Her final studio album was released in the year 1969. She continued to enjoy success as the female character in the role of Dixie McCall on the television show Emergency! (1972-1979), in which she was portrayed by her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb produced the show.
