Taylor
Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop stars: a superstar who managed to seamlessly transition from the traditional to becoming an enduring popular icon, and sweeping all over the world at the same time. Swift removed her roots in the country as though they were part of her skin, revealing she was arguably the smartest populist singer/songwriter of her generation one who could harness the mood of the moment and personalize it and just as impressively perform the reverse. The evidence was clear from her first songs, especially with regard to the neo homage towards Tim McGraw. On her second release Fearless (2008), Swift revealed a singer/songwriter who was beginning to know her. Fearless was a huge success not just in America and six of the singles were certified platinum on the back of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and Belong with Me. But the album also enjoyed a great reception across all over the world. The Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago, consolidated her prior successes, propelling Swift into the spotlight. The three albums following -- Red 2012, 1989 2014 along with Reputation 2017 -- her popularity only increased. That was an obvious indication that she was in the new music scene that she could be part of. It was not long before she changed her strategy in 2020's more streamlined siblings the folk singer (and Evermore) and stayed in the forefront of pop culture.
